If he did write those e-mails (And I have a hard time believing stories like this because of all the BS being thrown out there) but if it is true, then he was not very professional with his e-mails, or attitude for the job, and he deserves to be gone.
"Can I quit now? Can I come home?" could have been said as a joke, if he had been working hard and was tired. I have made similar comments, joking of course, after a hard days work. But sending it out in an e-mail to colleges is unprofessional and stupid.
Working in the IT industry for the last 10 years has shown me that many people are unaware as to how un-private e-mails can be. Also, e-mails don’t show if you are being sarcastic, joking, or serious. I have seen people learn these two things the hard way. I am not defending Brown for being stupid, but I am sure we all have e-mails we wouldn’t want spread across the news.
