back in the late seventies, making pretty good money as a hairdresser, however the hours I had to put in to build a clientele were serious. I had to be available for clients before work and after their work, so 7am-9:00 pm was a normal work day. I remember my husband fixing pizza one night, because I said I would be home soon. Someone walked in, as usual, and wanted a perm. 2 hours later I waltz home and he has a burned pizza on the table, and about 6-7 beers under his belt , madder than hornet at me.
In my peek, I made 20,000/year. heh.
My mother, a nurse who refused to take Texas state boards when she moved here, was hired as a nurse's aide at a nursing home across the street from the salon I worked at.
She found out what I made, and was livid at the unfairness of me making more than her.
My mother.
