I have been a fan of Romero's zombie flicks since the original Night Of The Living Dead in the 60s. I would almost bet there was no political message in that one but I would probably lose since George's messages don't come through that clear.
This latest one has an impressive cast and it is gory and entertaining for those of us that will even sit through a flick like this. The only message i picked up was that the intent of this chapter was to make mindless, murderous, rotting corpses into good guys and to illustrate that a plague that causes the dead to rise and live off live human flesh is but another multicultural challenge. You think I'm kidding see the film.
You know there may be a message there after all.
For those of us that don't pick up all the messages there are the dvd bonus features to explain the clever political messages. I am not even going into it. Rent it and see for yourself.
No closure in this one so we will no doubt see more from Romero but forgodsake George clarify a few things.
What is the life expectancy of a rotting corpse?
What is the big problem with killing off a few billion staggering dead with the IQ of a chicken? We've got guns, bombs, napalm, etc etc. They have rotting teeth and die instantly from brain trauma.
What the hell do the billions of flesh eating zombies live on after the living survivors are holed up behind barricades or in some shopping mall?
But fear not, You keep making them and I'll keep watching them
