something on the order of 525,376 as of 10/10/05.
83,000 was just the first 9 months of occupation gathering info in the hunt for Saddam. Most were in and out in a week after brief questioning.
Fortunately it paid off.
The computer registration system wasn't up until April 03 so there are more gaps in that number as well. And now with those terror prisons all over the numbers are unreliable because the nations use the facilities for their own torture and interrogations. There may be some cross-over in the numbers of US detainees and other nations detainees.
As you can see it's not all that efficient.
Since 9/11 if the 83,000 number would be accurate it would mean we've roughly averaged only interrogating and detaining 57 people a day. Heck the LAPD alone easily holds and detains 3 times more folks a day than that.
That would mean the War on Terror all over the world is on the order of 10/1000th as effective as the policing of the city of Los Angeles.
That would be a depressing statistic.

Those numbers correct? My records show...
