Frank,
Are you seriously implying it wasn't a real buttkicking because of a meaningless last minute touchdown? At almost the end of the 3rd quarter UA had almost as many yards in penalties as yards of offense. Kenny Irons had almost half as many yards as Darby with about 50 yards on 17 carries. By the end of the 4th he had over a hundred with only 7 more carries with him getting the ball predictably on almost every play. Bama's defense was on its last legs and only the play it safe prevent the win defense and predictable keep away offense gave UA the chance for two game ending drives which gave it any semblence of an offensive output. If Auburn had continued to play offense like the first quarter it could have gotten ugly quick without some major turnovers, but everyone new 21 points ought to be enough to beat Bama's anemic offense so why give their great defense a chance to win the game?
I do remember Auburn being beat pretty badly when they were expected to win one year, but I don't believe it compared to the level of domination Auburn showed in the 1st quarter on offense or throughout the game on defense. I know the offense was hobbled by the loss of your top receiver at UF, but was your offensive line similarly decimated towards the end of the season? We get no news on UA or AU in Valdosta that you can't get online. Still think 9-2 for Shula on a probation thinned team is almost as good as TT's 2004 miracle turnaround and a bit better than AU's 2005 performance vs capability.
Regards,
Mark
