Bell's comments about children and spacesuits strikes me as similar in nature and depth of thinking to Thomas Watson's comments on the world wide need of only five computers in 1943. Dynamics change and Tourists going to the Moon will want to Moonwalk and children will be in amount those tourists. The current use EMU suits are not tailored to individuals only gloves are. If the wearer isn't doing actual work those wouldn't need to be either.
I get the impression sometimes Jeff is like Ahab or Ed Grondine in his hunt for a whale and his mistaking dolphins for whales. Most of his complains make no sense. Or maybe he wishes like Narcissus to see his face in the pool. The first half of his rant suggests the latter. How many of us going looking for our name in online forums?
Zubrin was writing a popular book not a text book. The Mars Society is concerned with all those things Bell suggest we are not and we have on going studies, research and projects related to surface radiation, dust, insulation and gravity. The Mars Gravity BioSat is just one example of this scientific research our members are doing.
