Statements about aims 20 years in the future are much easier to make than to achieve. I think we have witnessed this in every space program and especially manned space programs since their inception. Goals are good to have, but lets not overblow Chinese space achievements at this point. My goodness, they have just now achieved what we did over 40 years ago, and that took Russian help. China is a burgeoning power with the resources of a billion people to draw upon. So, of course we should respect that they may accomplish great things in the future. Still, the media is littered with great aims in space never achieved.
Let's also not underestimate how far it is to building space stations and landing on the moon from simple few week orbital visits. In my opinion, it is ridiculous to hype Chinese space technology to creat a space "race" again. We need to take measured reasonable actions in developing our space technology without the hysteria that was present in our previous space "race." We wasted a lot of money doing things prematurely in that one. Let's not do the same thing again.
