There's so much more to modern economics than an eternal, and increasingly stale, grudge match between Adam Smith and Karl Marx. Bitcoins would be my guess for what's on your mind, having been in the news lately, including an attempt by the Winklevoi to corner the market. It's an enjoyable stretch trying to get my head around a currency that you amass by "mining" a mathematical formula.
