This is very similar to the Concorde fate. In 2000, it had its most serious accident, was grounded for months, then returned back flying only to be retired later on.
Concorde was the pride of both the french and british civil aviation.

But it could not stop with a failure. It had to stop with dignity.

It's psychology.
