You and I both know that. And believe me, so do they. They know perfectly well that no country in the world with a national health system (and I can't think of any modern, industrial nations that don't) has ever dismantled it and gone to a laissez-faire arrangement.
The critics just realize if they don't stop socialized medicine now, they never will; and (from their point of view) it will only get worse as the public learns its advantages and learns to live with its drawbacks.
This is not about politics, or efficiency, or ideology. This is a debate which can be understood completely from the standpoint of class economics and self-interest. And where money is involved, people will say or do whatever it takes to get their way.
"Those who can afford to purchase health care do not want to be taxed to subsidize those who can’t. Those who profit from the existing system, are in no hurry to see anything about it change."
That's all you need to know.
Flame » in reply to You missed the point. The lying bastards talk about how good the US is and how bad those rotten socialist countries are.
How we organize our health care has nothing to do with whether or not we become a communist tyranny.
