Step 1:
Conservatives say: Look at the Iraq vote (one of the prior ones). Look at Lebanon. Look at Egypt. Bush did all this. The plan to bring democracy to the Muslim world is a success. How can you bad liberals deny Bush credit for this good work? There is something wrong with you (yet again).
Step 2:
Egypt says [note that I gave you all a pass when some Lebanese took public exception to the changes there having anything to do with Washington]: "To heck with this democracy thing. It is ok to have democracy as long as the leaders get to pick the leaders. Anyone who challanges this arrangement goes to jail."
Step 3:
I wonder in a post whether the conservatives with so much to say in step 1 have anything to say about step 2. There is (continuing) silence.
Step 4:
Eby lectures me on having too black-and-white a view, for the grievous crime of bringing up the topic, I guess.
Time to help me here:
Is it really wrong to call peoples' past statements into question, when they prove demonstrably incorrect? Is it wrong to expect people of integrity to say "oops", once in a while?
Note that the prior two questions are not rhetorical. If you can help me understand the answers, I will be genuinely grateful.
PS: I don't recall any "black-and-white" lectures for the conservatives during step 1.
