They're opening our MAIL!!!

I worked for the Post Office in college. I learned two things:

That they are strict to the point of near psychosis about the security of the mail, including enclosed walkways and observation decks all around the workfloor with two-way mirror windows to make sure you aren't screwing with the mail.

That foreign mail with customs stickers can be opened by the proper officials (not me) for inspection if necessary, sometimes on this end, sometimes on the other.

The Customs department politely points this out to MSNBC, at which point a rational news outlet might conclude that there is no story here. But what the hell, let's go with the fog and innuendo.
