Please tell me precisely WHY this is a major news story? Under the headline "Homeland Security Is Opening Private Mail?"

My call is that it's another hog-pile on the "Bush is destroying our rights" meme, from a news source whose leanings are obvious (it's Bowser's favorite). Pretty much the same as the stupid cookie thing was.

The idea is that they hope most readers will not bother to get past the front end of the article, or will jump to conclusions. The fact that there is nothing new here won't sink in.

What's your take on it?
