When you don't pay ransoms, financial kidnapping goes down. When you don't advertise political kidnappings, political kidnappings go down.
If one removes the motivation then you reduce the number participating in such actions for the reward.
When you limit media exposure to the Middle East - the terrorists don't get the payoff they seek.
The payoff is when folks like yourself, Lindy, or Bowser rail on about the US presence in Iraq and the progress of Iraq's reformation.
You are the CUSTOMERS of political exploitation, that feed money to the media by your viewing and reading habits. The media profits by catering to those who want to hear bad news about Iraq and America's foreign policy.
Bad news is big business when their is a political opposition to feed.
In that sense, for the political left, terrorists act as entertainment and fodder, while the media act as programming directors.
Nothing nutty about seeing behind the motivations of the media, terrorists and a percentage of the public.
