Question re: Area Around Bode's Galaxy (M81)
Hi guys, long time no talk...
Tonight, I was checking out my Messiers and was trying to find M81 for the first time. I think I found it, but with the light pollution where I live, it's still pretty faint, even with my 8 inch.
But, about a half a degree to the west, I can barely see what appears to be another galaxy that appears edge on, apparent size is about .1 degree (guess), and at about the same magnitude as what I think is Bode's, maybe a half magnitude dimmer. It appears to run NNW-SSE.
The chart I'm using doesn't show anything there, nor can I find anything anywhere online right off the bat.
I was using an 8 inch Dob, 914 mm focal length, with a 10 mmm Super Plossl.
Any ideas? Hallucinations don't count.
Regards,
Pex
