Thanks for the info, Raoul... I'm pretty sure it's M82. the Cigar Galaxy.
The book I was looking in shows M81 on the sky chart, but not M82. But looking at the page that describes both galaxies in depth, and according to the coords and the pics, I think I figuired it out.
Darn Messier, beating me to that discovery.
