The shutdown is Democratic policy, not Republican. Want to talk about "compromise?" "My way or the highway?"
Fiscal collapse and debt overload from entitlement spending is no different than collapse from discretionary spending.
We are printing a trillion a year out of thin air to hold the stock market up. With record tax receipts--after taxes on the rich were increased--we are still looking at a deficit this year of over $700 billion. The Federal budget right now is over $800 billion more a year (constant dollars) than it was ten years ago, at record levels both in dollars and percent of GDP, yet we somehow can't find the money to keep parks open for a week.
The Democrats had this shutdown planned for months, and have been manipulating the debt numbers to time it. The ceiling vote should have taken place months ago.
