IMAX films are not distributed the way that comercial films are. Each IMAX theatre has, specifically, to order the film and the rights to show it. Before that, they have to find room in their budget for it.

And IMAX theatre managment are not the science-ignorant yahoos that you portray. They are typically very interested in showing good and educational films.
