Tom, and just why is it that anytime anyone proposes that Bush is mishandling our national security, you assume that the proposed solution comes from the "left". I know an awful lot of Republicans these days that think the man should be sent packing. "Left" generally refers to an economic ideaology not a foreign policy. There really is no liberal or conservative foreign policy. Many of our more successful wartime presidents were from the Democratic party. If anything you'd think the conservatives would be more isolationist.

The reason you see primarily liberal writers dissing Bush is that the more conservative media owners don't allow dissent among their employees. Imagine working for Clear Channel as a reporter or talk show host and deciding you no longer believed we should be in Iraq. You'd know, if you broadcast your views, that you'd be getting a pink slip. That's not conjecture. I've seen highly rated local talk show hosts fired from longtime jobs here in the Phoenix area because they didn't tow the party line.

Why is it always right and left with you? Discussing issues like the war doesn't have to be anything to do with party affiliation and yet you come down firmly with the Republican party on every issue of war and foreign policy. It'd be nice every once in awhile to hear a unique thought.

Look at your history sometime. Find me a time in any nation's history where a single political party or ideaology ruled overwhelmingly and it ended up good for the citizens in the long run. Power concentrated in any place corrupts and leads to huge abuse. You have to be able to see that the far right is on a huge power grab now and needs to be balanced by opposing thought just as we needed Republicans to balance things when the Dems were on a power grab. If you can't see the danger in our current situation then you've lost all sense of history and reason.

I don't agree with everything the the articles said but sense there's more truth than fiction in them. We are not in a declared war. Why? There's no nation's military to put in our sights. To call Afghanistan as it existed on 9/11 a nation is laughable. Are we at war against the citizens of Iraq? If you believe Bush then obviously they're our friends. We're there to help them achieve democracy and freedom. So who's the enemy? Al Quaida? Last I looked they don't run any countries. How do you wage war with an enemy without a country? Seems we're doing a piss poor job of it and an awful lot of people seem to sense that. Wonder when it'll hit you?
