Anti-Americanism is one of the core principles IHT was founded on. It parrots the sort of news and mainly opinion that detached Europeans living provincial lives wish to hear.
Americans are "cowboys" and rush in foolishly while others hold back. My German relatives were already used to such a depiction back in the 50s. When a President actually hails from Texas the temptation is too great and Europeans let forth an even greater barrage of anti-Americanism than if he hailed from somewhere on the Eastern seaboard. Reagan was a "cowboy" too. Naturally Goldwater hailing from Arizona was the stereotypical "cowboy" whose views were too "dangerous" for those who sip tea and buy clothes for their poodles and whose idea of danger is visiting their local red light district without protection.
Raoul is no different than 100 million other Europeans who share and have been indoctrinated by such viewpoints.
No US action is ever justifiable in the European left's eyes. And I could spend five long (even by my standards) posts explaining the countless "degrees of left" which exist in European politics.
