One of you American contributors might respond with, "what crisis?"
Well?....The insatiable appetite for gasoline by American drivers
is forcing America to rely more-and-more on unfriendly or unreliable
oil rich nations for its supply. i.e., Venezuela, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc...
Well?...There's hydrogen, fuel-cells, or there's improved electric motors coming [with warm-temperature super-conducting electromagnets]...but these are decades down the road.
What about the interim period?...the next ten years.
How about water-injection into internal-combustion engines?
It's been done before...on WW2 fighter aircraft.
400mph WW2 fighter aircraft were boosted to [around] 440 mph by water-injection
into their engine cylinders.
(440/400)^3 works out roughly to 1.33..Or roughly a 130-135 percent power boost
Basically, if you are driving a vehicle with water-injection into a [example] 150HP, six-cylinder
engine, it will perform like a 200HP 8-cylinder engine without the need to burn more gasoline per mile.
Could that be a solution to tide you American drivers over until a hydrogen powered or super-conducting
electromagnetic motor powered vehicle becomes practical?
