I am currently down in Costa Rica. Scattered about the plateau are large, perfectly formed stone spheres, about 6' in diameter. They dig these things up when clearing for roads, etc. I have never seen anything close and no one seems to have any explanation as to origin.

Inasmuch as someone on these boards usually has an explanation for everything else, I would appreate this one.

Experienced my first active volcano yesterday along with a hummingbird zoo. The scenery here is spectacular and a/c isn't needed on this high plateau (I have had a fire in my fireplace every night here.) Oh, they also have poison multi colored frogs here--I don't know if I will ever order frog legs again.

I would have posted this on community, but I wanted the subject to be these strange, smooth stones.
