I don't know how often you get thunder-snow in the NE

We get it from time to time here in Colorado. Not necessarily every year but it has happened many times in the 20 years I've lived here. It's no big deal but kind of cool, just the same. It seems more likely when you get a strong cold front hitting when you've had abnormally warm temps.

As for the weather changing, that happens all of the time here, too. I've seen it go from a high in the upper 60s to a violent snowstorm in a matter of hours. Sometimes, it's a pain (like when a snowstorm hits while I'm at work) but often it's just part of the 'charm' of living here. If I wanted nearly constant good weather, I'd live in Hawaii.
