forming olivine.

Olivine is one of the commonest silicate rock-forming minerals. It contains variable amounts of Iron and Magnesium in a framework of Silicon (SiO4). It forms readily in hot non-oxidising environments including hot vapour and within solid planets. It is often the first major mineral to precipitate from a cooling magma. It is one of the major ingredients of the Earth's Mantle.
