My views won't change if there aren't any politicians holding them. Like many voters today, I don't vote for someone who agrees with me as much as I vote to try to minimize damage.
I don't think you understand what's actually happening on the Right.
Step one is to realize a fundamental difference between the Republican Party and the Tea Party movement. Remember there are politicians who support Tea Party ideas, but there is no "Tea Party" on the ballot. Visualize politics as something other than "leaders" and "loyal followers."
This article is one example, but this attitude is widespread from the pundits down to the living rooms.
Some of us realized what it means when a political party supporting government control of health care uses federal agencies and withholding of funds to punish Americans for political opposition. Probably not enough of us, but sooner or later even the uninformed voter learns something.
