From what I've heard about this...
...the Pentagon is exhibiting breathtaking arrogance, using silence to speak volumes about its disrespect for the press (and what's more, using silence even when it's legally obligated to explain itself). Trouble is, when you thumb your nose at the press, it looks a lot like your aiming the gesture right at the American public.
