Last Thanksgiving I was flying back to San Jose from Vegas when we hit the worst turbulence I've ever experienced. Right in the middle of it some dumbass passenger got up to go to the restroom, and for the first time I heard a flight attendant lose it, screaming "For God's sake, sit down! Now!" in in tones of unmistakable raw panic. Not quite the same as "We're crashing! Aieeeeee!", but I know from that experience just how disconcerting it can be when a flight attendant loses it. They're only human, but they're the anchor primates in the temporary tribe aboard an airliner; as they go, so go the rest of us.

Maybe they should be equipped with Valium injectors?
