It was fun

I didn't expect Conservatives to take well to the concept of the subject line, no matter how many disclaimers I put in; and it did end up mostly the left-leaning side that participated, but I'm glad that the spirit of it stayed light. In general it was pretty innocent fun, just jumping on the bandwagon of BrokeBack parodies that you see everywhere nowadays. It was out there in the zeitgeist, and I wanted to play too.

In fact, with people accusing me of relentness negativity towards Bush, I think that in a way it was an acknowledgment of the one uncontroversial thing about Dubya: He's physically graceful and fills out a tux nicely, does the man's man thing pretty well, and can be charming when he wants to be. If we didn't have a history to piss me off, I might even have liked the guy.

(Did I ever mention my suspicion that I got drunk with Dubya in Midland many years ago? Not impossible, given the timing and the people I was there to see, upper-crust peers from the same oilpatch circle [business involving process control equipment]. There was one guy I vaguely remember, through an admitted haze, who might well have been George. Good times!)
