I mean, aren't you all still breaking your backs and paying taxes so those free wheeling and dealing industry co-horts of the Bush administration can clean up?
A recent 60 Minutes episode stated that the rate being charged the federal government by the no-bid contractors to nail onto roofs the blue tarps was $15/square foot but that there were four layers of subcontractors involved so that each worker actually wielding the hammer to nail the tarps down was paid $.10/sq. foot so that the rest of the money was profit for the subcontractors to do virtually nothing beyond setting up the deal.
Today it said in the paper that FEMA, which had previously promised last fall to allow the Katrina no-bid rebuilding contracts to finally be let for bid, has now said it will not rebid the contracts. We are definitely getting stuck with the Katrina bill big time. Research study shows that in seventy years New Orleans will be completely surrounded by water and Lake Pontchartrain will no longer exist because the river delta is subsiding at the rate of an area the size of a football field an hour! Any money spent on the levees will simply reinforce the true nature of what they create - sort of a reverse bathtub at the proposed cost of billions.
Had enough yet? "Disaster relief" is just the new buzz work for "feeding at the government trough".
