The gift of "freedom"
Is subject to interpretation. In the West it has traditionally been a highly individualistic interpretation that has evolved into not only freedom of religion, but freedom from religion.
No such meaning attaches in the Arab world. Freedom here mean freedom to worship Allah with any obstructions or competition and freedom to follow the rules of hadith without questions.
T.E. Lawrence said the Arab mind could be swung on an idea as if on a cord; their allegience of mind made them obedient servants......more fertile in belief than any other in the world. Sahhia Muslim, hadith.
