Suspect Democrats ripped her a new one. They do NOT want McKinney to be the "black face of the Democratic Party," especially since their current crop of black Democratic politicians and political types is already so well-stocked with leftist loons.

They are grooming Obama (one of the few non-loons), and trying to destroy Steele, and the last thing they need in McKinney on center stage.

The Democrats are extraordinarily sensitive to the whims of the black vote. It doesn't take much of a defection to put them in a bad way in elections, and it's already excruciatingly obvious that the Bush administration has put more black people in positions of high responsibility than any Democrat ever did. The only black person being seriously considered as a presidential candidate next time around is a Republican.
