Here is a report from Day 792
MARS EXPLORERS - SPIRIT AND OPPORTUNITY (The Science Show, 1/04/06)
When NASA launched the Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity in
2005, their designers expected them to last for 90 days - they are still
going 792 days - and counting.
Dr Steve Squyres, principal investigator for
the science instruments on the rovers, attributes their longevity to good
hardware and good luck. Dr Squyres speaks about future missions to Mars and
other prospective NASA projects.
