A good solution to energy problems is a broad-based combination of cleaner fossil systems, moving to safer nuclear technologies, and supporting a decentralized solar technology. Other alternative energy technologies should be used where they can, like tidal, geothermal, hydroelectric, and others.
I support heavy investment in nuclear power, preferably at centralized military-type enclaves containing both power plants, fuel storage, reprocessing, and waste storage.
I also support continued work on solar power. The price is still going down, and I believe a tipping point in the technology is not far away.
A kilowatt of solar panels on a roof is a kilowatt that doesn't have to made at a power plant, nuclear or otherwise, and transmitted at great loss down power lines.

I agree

- Nuclear efficiency
- Touchy subject obviously
- Nuclear power is the ONLY medium term option...
- Invest in Uranium.
- That is because you do not know the OTHER, superior near term options. (n/t)
- Why solar power cannot be THE answer...
- Wrong. Especially about Hawaii. Sea Solar Power could provide 1000% of Hawii's needs.
- Did you even know what the power consumption of hawaii is when you made that statement...?
- Sea Solar Power could provide 1000% of Hawaii's needs.
- It will work almost anywhere in the 40,000,000 square kilometers
- If he is talking about the thermal gradient, then that is of NO use for the vast majority of the world....
- :-) Yeah, we'll get right on that, David (n/t)
