The first time I ever went fishing...

I caught a fish on my first cast into the lake. I know, a
lake is kinda smaller than the galaxy, but the point is it
happened, and only because I tried.

For those who don't think SETI will work, all I can ask is,
what is your alternate plan with what we can do now, as
opposed to doing nothing and hoping they will visit us, which
I find to be even longer odds than searching, even if it
is just from the front porch of our planet.
