Expanding outward to fill the volume of a black hole that is growing at a runaway rate. The universe is telescoping, so to speak, like a series of hydraulic pistons. Each rod moving only minutely relative to adjacent rods, but the furthest rod is moving close to the speed of light relative to the nearest rod.
