In General Relativity, (non local) speeds greater than the speed of light

are possible. In fact, there is no speed limit whatosever. Only local phenomena (those happening in a local Lorentz frame) are limited to the speed of light. If two areas of the Universe are moving apart at greater than the speed of light, then they can not be causally connected.
