Space/Science » in reply to where the Greek Gods were aliens

"Welcome to Olympus, Captain Kirk!"

You say you never saw "Who Mourns for Adonais?", first aired on
NBC Television (in living color!) in 1967?

The Enterprise crew literally get grabbed by Apollo, the last of the
Olympians, while exploring the Pollux system (ya know that glowing
green hand holding the starship tight? That was Gene Roddenberry's!
Maybe he was trying to say something about his position on the series?).

Von Daniken would have been thrilled to know that apparently five
thousand years ago some aliens came to Earth's ancient Greeks and
posed as gods, where they got so much into the part that they actually
left dejected when the puny mortals stopped worshipping them wholesale
and started worshipping some other guy, I mean god.

This episode is also notable for the fact that Kirk did not get the hot
blond (but then again, neither did Scotty), but how do you compete
with a guy who keeps saying he is a god? Of course you can't even
serve in Starfleet as a woman unless you look really good in a tiny
miniskirt with fishnet stockings and knee-high leather boots.
