What really caused a relatively obscure Jewish sect to grow into one of the powerful (and brutally repressive and intolerant, by the way) cults in world history??
I believe that there's little doubt that the early Catholic Church saw an irresistible opportunity to greatly accelerate the transformation of their sect into an extremely powerful and enticing cult, one capable of attracting in time a vast following and gaining immense political power, by fabricating a gloriously divine, larger than life figure out of Jesus, a man who was a wise rabbi and had meaningful things to say about life, but who was no more divine than my pet cocker spaniel...
hey, wait a minute..."dog" spelled backwards is "god"...it's a secret code! Maybe my little Sоbaka is divine after all!! Come to think of it, "Jesus" spelled backwards is "sausage", sort of, and my doggie loves to eat little sausage snacks, too...another clue...hmmmmmmmmmmm.......
