I have been noticing a definite upward trend in news and blog entries that are not in text, but films and sound files.

Now, some places, notably NPR, have been doing this for a long time, but I'm seeing it everywhere.

Sorry, but I don't have the time for this. I dabble in research, newsreading and posting when I'm not doing useful work. I can't sit and listen for ten minutes to somebody reading a long paragraph when I can read it in ten seconds. Now people are doing little video news bits instead of just letting me read the news.

I understand people trained to let talking heads and comedians tell them how it is might like this (even when I tune in the news, which is very rarely, I often mute whoever's shooting their mouth off and read the crawl to see what's happening.) But I don't.
