Causes could be various, such as inflation due to high oil prices, or fear over Iran's nuclear weapons program, or even the possibility that OPEC nation banks may switch to Euros, or a pan-Islamic currency, triggering a selloff and devaluation of the American greenback. Suddenly the price of oil could become unaffordable to Americans crashing the entire economy. But that's a little far-fetched perhaps. Maybe.
