The poor and those making up to 4 times the poverty level will be eligible for tax credits TO BUY INTO the system you describe. The ACA will do nothing more than funnel cash from the taxpayers into the hands of the insurance companies.
We keep hearing that we're counting on the young and healthy becoming insured so the costs will be spread over the entire risk pool. That means we need the healthy people to pay for the services the sick receive.
And do you know what that means? It means if there are not enough healthy people paying premiums, then the premiums of the insured will have to go up to cover it.
The conservatives aren't "defending" a money machine for the rich and greedy, they're attacking a seriously flawed solution.
There's got to be a better answer.
