Current Events » in reply to NO way to disrupt FORMATION of HURRICANES?

Bad idea, even if it worked.

A hurricane, like most other storms, is nature's way of balancing out a massive heat load in the environment. It's not nature's fault we build fragile stuff on the shorelines.

If you could figure out how to make hurricanes dissipate, the next one would be bigger. And the one after that bigger still. You're not making hurricanes go away, you're storing them up. All this time the water in the Gulf and other seas is getting hotter and hotter, which isn't going to do the ecosystem any good.

Divert them? Where? Assuming you COULD steer one, you might be able to divert one from the deep Atlantic into the north Atlantic. Meanwhile, the Gulf gets hotter and hotter...

Anyway, the second you stand up in front of the world with your Magic Hurricane Adjuster, every storm disaster after that point is somehow going to be ALL YOUR FAULT. Good luck with that.

Fix the damn levees and build them right this time, sit on the environmentalists' heads and build the storm gates, and stop having the government insure people who live on the frigging sand beaches.
