DDT has been found to be useful in fighting malaria, and there has been an increase in deaths since the ban, but DDT has been allowed to be used in a number of special cases in Africa in recent years. They have also found that bed and window nets impregnated with DDT go a long way to fighting the disease while reducing possible bad effects from it getting into the general environment.
