My wife's rheumatologist is a lady in her 40's. She seems to be very up to date with Lupus. Used to, most male doctors blew off Lupus symptoms as “Female†problems, but they seem to be taking it more seriously now. My wife won’t go to men doctors for this kind of thing and I don’t blame her. My primary care physician is a female. I have found women doctors listen better and seem to really care, whereas most male doctors I went to seem to have me diagnosed before I entered the office. Age seemed to have a lot to do with it, the younger doctors willing to listen more. I did have one female doctor that didn’t seem to like men, but for the most part I have had better luck with female doctors.
