Me too.

I just spent an hour in the Gale Research database, Litfinder.

I'll tell you what, though: I don't think it's Frost, or anyone more modern. It sure isn't Sandburg. It might be the work of a regional poet that your teacher liked. (Does Florida have a poet laureate?) It sounds very 19th/early 20th century, and more 19th to my ear than 20th. It's got that Philip Freneau/James Russell Lowell feel to it.

If it was in your textbook in high school, its title might have been preceded by the little word "from". I copied and pasted a couple of the poems for which I got a partial vocabulary match to make better use of the search function, to discover that one of them is 138 pages long. (The Columbiad by Joel Barlow) They are all ballad kind of things, with many, many verses. The shortest ones have ten stanzas.

I think "yodelers" has to be your best key word, though all it got me on the web was cowboy songs and Swiss mountaineers.
