I get to vote against him! Whoohoo!!!
Not that I'm thrilled with Casey's stand re: reproductive policies, but I will say that Casey isn't a fearmonger. He also understands that, if you're going to run as a Catholic, you have to account for the social justice portion of Catholic thought as well.
Santorum is running an I'm Catholic When It Agrees With The Neocons campaign.
Fascinating, really. When I was a little girl, kids from the public school still believed that old thing about there being rifles in the basements of Catholic churches, waiting for the Pope to send out the word to take over. I got so mad once that I took two neighbor kids down into the church basement to show them no rifles were down there. (We were not supposed to be down there...) They were unconvinced. They maintained there was a secret room somewhere. *sigh*
Now, in PA, we have two Catholics running against each other for US Senate, each using his own version of Catholicism. One remembers the Sermon on the Mount, and one doesn't.
Thank you, JFK.
