Why are we fighting in Afghanistan?
Anyone ever wonder anymore. After all, GWB declared it a Taliban-free area, OBL is in hiding, there is no threat to the US there.
And clearly, if fighting could bring a stable government, there would be one now.
Here's some thoughts on it from the BBC. Quick guide to the Afghanistan conflict.
Is it to bring "democracy" to the area? While we support the military dictatorship of Pakistan, who is building a plutonium reactor, by the way. Plutonium. Will increase their warhead production to about, oh, say, 200 per year.
Not a peep from the conservatives.
Not democracy, then.
WMDs? No.
Fight "terrorism"? Hell, creating people who hate you is not the way to fight anything.
Nope.
Gotta be bucks. It's always money.
