It was expected... I sure as hell don't want US troops put in there as cannon fodder for Hezbolla, why would the French be any different...
They probably could stomach the idea of French weapons sold to Syria and funned to Hezbolla being used to attach French peacekeepers.
Better to keep the troops at home and keep the Weapons sales Gravy train rolling.
