I understand your temptation for compassion here but I think we stop evolving intellectually if we don't challenge absurdity. If the woman somehow believed her life would turn around because of her chocolate vision, her life will always be full of holes as she waits for the next miracle to solve what she could stand up and face herself. That little tiny bit of Hershey hope does nothing but put off the inevitable downturn much as the caffeine rush would do if she simply ate ole Mary.
