The Iraq invasion was a disaster in the making. People driven by an idealogy and a certain greed managed to incite their current and future business partners into thinking Iraq was going to be cakewalk.
>"Perle resigned from the Board because he came under fire for having relationships with businesses that stood to profit from the war."
Somehow, others in the administration and members of PNAC thought they had the power to invade and conquer a sovereign country in the middle east full of desert monguls, and satisfy them with our war laurels.
Our president and his crony administration went along with them, because they COULD. They had the power. And you know what they say about "power", it corrupts absolutely.
>"With the exception of a very small number of people close to a vicious regime, the people of Iraq have been liberated and they understand that they’ve been liberated.â€
Please don't forget they said the liberators would be greeted with flowers and people in the streets.
I read this and my blood pressure soars....not only with the anger and the futility that I felt when these plans were first laid out on the table, but now (several years later) when their mistakes are monumentally exposed. It makes me ill.
